Brian had been expected to make a move today: he'd accumulated volunteer credits early in the series while posting some super-impressive training rides on Strava. Tracy, with his early sustained effort, couldn't follow, and neither could Carl. All others had been dropped, just Carl, Brian, and Tracy were left. Tracy was caught, but he quickly slotted in with Carl and Brian. Then as the gap was almost closed, Brian Lucido, who had been biding his time, moved up to help Carl. Tracy's gap stabilized, then started to decrease. Carl Nielson, in particular, took up the reponsibility of the chase. This continued for awhile until Tracy had gapped the rest of the group, slowly riding away. Behind him, Tracy Colwell took control from the front of the pack on the early gradual slopes. Group 1: Bill Bushnell went off the front as usual, in his hybrid-electric recumbent. We'd previously done this one in 19, a bit of neglect for such a classic local climb. The 2011 Low-Key Hillclimbs is entering the end game with week 7, Highway 9 out of Saratoga.
